Cinque Quinti

Green Practice

The winery's sustainability practice is deeply rooted in preserving the unique identity of the Monferrato region. This is achieved by focusing on the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties like Grignolino and Barbera, which are quintessential to the local terroir. Their approach extends to cultural sustainability through the meticulous preservation and promotion of their historic "infernot"—a traditional underground cellar hand-carved into the local sandstone and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage asset. This practice not only safeguards a unique architectural feature but also maintains the historical method of wine aging and storage, linking their products directly to the history of the land.

The winery has implemented several sustainability initiatives, although specific quantitative metrics are not published. Their production has been certified under the SQNPI (National Quality System for Integrated Production) since 2022, which focuses on reducing chemical inputs and optimizing water use. They utilize solar energy, with a new photovoltaic system being installed to power their hospitality operations. In a circular economy approach, grape pomace is recovered and sent to a distillery for reuse. They also practice carbon offsetting through the maintenance of several hectares of woodland and utilize lightweight, recyclable packaging to reduce emissions.

Visitor Engagement & Experience

Visitor engagement at Cinque Quinti is a highly personal and immersive experience. Guests are often welcomed by one of the five siblings, who share their family's multi-generational story. The tour takes visitors through the vineyards overlooking the Monferrato hills, into the modern cellar, and culminates in the descent into the historic, UNESCO-listed "infernot". The tasting sessions are educational, guiding visitors through the winery's portfolio with a special focus on their signature Grignolino and Barbera wines. These are paired with a curated selection of local gastronomic products, many sourced from their own seasonal vegetable garden, to provide a comprehensive sensory experience of the region's culture and terroir.
